Anemoi

performance, sculpture, video

Anemoi comes from the Greek mythology and stands for the ensemble of the gods of the winds. It shows the process of adaptation to different environments, and the seeking for space and territory. The dress is made of recycled sails that represent the wind as a metaphor of emigration: always in continuous movement. The pieces change their shape adapting  to the place, showing how the environment challenges the movement. It is a symbol of conditions, lifestyle, ways of subsistence and the harshness of the events that leads people to explore new places, sometimes resulting in a struggle with the environment.
The performer takes 20-30 minutes after which they take off the dress that will remain installed in the space. The music is especially composed for this piece by the Japanese singer Atsuko Kamura and Spanish guitarist Manuel Calvo.
